On Christmas morning, Amanda had no idea Marty was about to propose. "The first present Marty gave me was a deck of playing cards with a label asking will you be my Queen of Hearts?" Amanda explains, "I said yes then Marty presented me with my second present, a 1.5 carat diamond solitaire!"

Their wedding day was simple and relaxed, filled with love and emotion. Amanda woke up feeling excited with a touch of nerves while Marty woke up early, keen to get to the altar! The bride and groom chose to keep with tradition and didn't see each other until Amanda walked down the aisle of the church. "Amanda looked beautiful and I was a little watery-eyed as she walked down the aisle," Marty tells.

When deciding on a venue, they knew they wanted to get married in the presence of God. "We wanted to get married in a church and after some reflection, settled on the historic All Saints Anglican Church in Howick."
The Church brought together two themes for Amanda and Marty. The first being Amanda’s English heritage and the second being Marty’s association with All Saints when he was a youth group leader.

For Amanda and Marty, the day was all about sharing their commitment with friends and family and making it as hassle-free and enjoyable as possible. Amanda explains, "We hired a bus to transport people to and from the church to avoid parking hassles. We also chose to have our photos taken at the reception venue to avoid long delays and provide an opportunity for guests to be involved."

The reception was held at Windross Restaurant, an elegant villa sitting on the edge of the beach at Cockle Bay. "We were looking for an intimate reception venue, with fine dining and great service."

When deciding on wedding decor, they added little touches to show off their personalities. Amanda kept it simple and classy with gold touches and Marty included a hint of Thunderbirds into the table names. The cake was hand made by Amanda’s niece, Esther featuring a glittering stiletto for Amanda and vintage train for Marty.

As advice for couples about to get married Amanda laughs, "Choose your partner wisely! Create a realistic budget, it will cost more than you think, and plan ahead to get best deals." She also says to have a few friends that are willing to assist on the day by setting up or packing down.
